Today it will approach freezing temperature (close to 32 degrees fahrenheit) with chances of snow before 2pm and it will be very windy outside with gusts as high as 40mph producing chances of blowing snow in the area. So be careful as you’re out and about today. However, we will see a quick shift in temperatures on Wednesday with temperatures increasing into the mid-40’s and mostly sunny. By Thursday, Christmas Day temperatures will decline back in the upper 20’s, lower 30’s with increased chances of snow on the holiday with precipitation of up to 1 to 2 inches expected in the Rapid City area.

Hello Folks!

The rest of this afternoon will be cold; with air temperatures declining into the mid-teens tonight
It will become foggy in the Rapid City area tonight and tomorrow morning as visibility decreases overnight so be careful on the roads. Tomorrow’s high will be in the upper 20’s as we will see an increasing upward trend in temperatures for the rest of the week. The weather will be mostly sunny with temperatures in the lower-40’s by Thursday and Friday and no precipitation expected.

Today and the next few days, the weather is going to be very pleasant. An upper-level ridge is being amplified over the Western South Dakota area bringing above average temperatures. The air temperatures will rise gradually toward the upper-60’s by Friday with mostly sunny skies. Enjoy these next few days while there is a possible chance of precipitation by the end of the weekend.

As we have persistent upper-level ridges being pushed through the Rapid City area today and the next few days, warmer air will be advected into the area. Temperatures will be above average for this time of year; temperatures will gradually increase to the lower-50’s by the end of the weekend. Additionally, there is no precipitation expected with it being mostly sunny outside while winds will be light; less than 10mph.

Hi Folks! Enjoy the weather, it’s going to be mostly sunny today and tomorrow, with warmer temperatures in the mid-to-upper 40’s. There will be chances of rain and snow Saturday night and Sunday night as an upper-level low along with a few embedded shortwaves come into the Rapid city area, increasing the chances of rain and snow. Up to 0.2 inches is expected for the area this weekend. As the upper-level low approaches, a higher pressure gradient will be produced, increasing winds at the surface, with maximum gust wind speeds topping out between 30-35 mph this weekend. Temperatures will decrease to the mid-to-upper 30’s by Sunday.

Finally, we have temperatures that are reasonable for this time of year. The arctic cold blast has finally phased out and temperatures this week will be close to their seasonal averages for this time of year. No precipitation is expected for the next few days, with winds being relatively high for today and tomorrow as a strong pressure gradient passes over the area. Winds will lighten up by Thursday as temperatures will steadily increase to the lower-40’s by Friday.

Happy Friday! Temperatures will stay frigid for most of today and the weekend with temperatures in the lower teens and then slightly warming up to the mid-20’s for Sunday. However, expect snow accumulations of up to 2 inches tonight through tomorrow as we have an upper-level trough that will move through the the Rapid City area. The temperatures may be cold now, however next week has an upside, as the forecast models show an increase in temperatures for Rapid City.

Happy Veteran’s Day! Temperatures will be frigid today and the rest of the week. It will also be very windy with wind gusts as high as 25-30mph, dipping wind-chill values as low as -10 degrees fahrenheit tonight and tomorrow night. Additionally, there is a slight chance of precipitation (snow) tonight;only a trace of snow, flurries are expected.  For the rest of the week, it will slightly warm up to the mid-20’s by Friday, although there is another chance of snow in the forecast Friday night and Saturday.
